Monday’s run group was hot, humid, and happenin’.
While the rising temps may have scared off a few run-groupers, still many fearless friends came ready to take on whatever heat New Orleans climate had to throw at them.
What incentive did they have to power through this blistering workout? None other than pineapple (courtesy of Sanchez), pops, and…mystery cookies?! And, if these tasty treats weren’t, Ella took it upon herself to hose down anyone that needed a little more cooling off.
Wednesday brought about another bright and sunny run group evening – complete with NOTC’s 2-miler at the Festival Grounds. Some made easy, breezy 1.5 mile jog over to the start while others trucked it over by other means of transport.
Slightly cooler temperatures than a couple of weeks ago seemed to work in the favor of a few runners who ran some sick times! Ian Carr (9:42) and Sean Allerton (10:12) for the misters led the pack. For the ladies, Sarah Skotty Powell (10:57) and Ky Kastes (12:16) pulled off the lead and showed everybody out there what was up. With Blue Moon and PR’s in the air, Chalmette Track Club and Metairie Runners pulled off another successfully sponsored 2-miler event.
In other news, a RGR (run group recap) wouldn’t be complete without the acknowledgement of run-grouper of the week Chad Rice.
P.S. Bust out your leis because run group next Wednesday is going to be a luau. Leone has dubbed next Wednesday “Hawaiian night”…dress accordingly!
