What We Do

The Louisiana Distance Project is a local New Orleans running and walking club with the single goal to help NOLA walkers and runners reach their maximum potential. Whether you're after that PR in an upcoming race or you just want some fun people to run or walk with, we got you covered. Come join us!

Who We Are

Distance Project members represent a broad range of people from recreational walkers and joggers to elite athletes. Our members come from all walks of life and professions. Diversity is what makes our club strong. The majority are non-competitive runners who set (and achieve!) personal goals and participate in local/regional events and enjoy the camaraderie of training with awesome people.

Our Training Programs: 2 Types

1. Race Training

We'll help you get ready for some of the popular races in New Orleans throughout the year. You'll get a training plan, a certified coach and you'll be surrounded with people after the same goal you are. Great for first-time racers or seasoned pros. Check out the races below.

2. 'Whatever' Training

We'll help you reach WHATEVER goal you have. Trying to get in better shape? Got an out-of-town race coming up? Just want to run or walk in good company? We got you covered! See more below.

Louisiana Distance Project - Coach Chaz Caido

Chaz Caiado

Chaz Caiado brings more to The Distance Project besides a glorious beard. He coaches the Louisiana Distance Project racing team and its training groups. Chaz also currently coaches cross country and track at Cabrini High School, and has coached numerous high school teams throughout his career.

Louisiana Distance Project - Coach Stephanie Hankins
Louisiana Distance Project - Coach Jennifer Neil

Stephanie Hankins

Stephanie Hankins is a former CPA and now co-owner of Louisiana Running + Walking Co. She ran track for Trinity University in San Antonio and still competes in many races around the area. She now also coaches high school track and field.

Jennifer Neil

Born in Metairie, Jennifer ran for Mt. Carmel Academy and LSU. Jennifer has coached and trained many individuals/groups over the years. She currently helps teach Guerre's Fit Camp classes in Harahan and volunteers for the New Orleans Track Club and the Women's New Life Center, while also enjoying spending time with her husband and 3 year old.

Louisiana Distance Project - Coach Patrick Gavin

Patrick Gavin

Born in Folsom, Pat ran for St. Paul’s High School and LSU before founding Louisiana Running Company in 2010. At LSU, he was a way better runner than his humble attitude reveals, covering a mile in 4:02, 5k in 14:30, and 10k in 30:20.  Pat can now usually be found alternating between racing in a bunny suit and complaining about how out of shape he is.
