Pat Gavin co-founded LRC with Jen Neil. (She’s now the race director for the New Orleans Track Club.) Born in Folsom, Pat ran for St. Paul’s High School, Georgia, and LSU before founding LRC in 2010. At LSU, he was a way better runner than his humble attitude reveals, covering a mile in 4:02, 5k in 14:30, and 10k in 30:20. Pat can now usually be found alternating between racing in a bunny suit and complaining about how out of shape he is.
The reason Pat is out of shape, though, is that he spends most of his waking hours strengthening the New Orleans-area running community. He’s the founding editor of the Louisiana Milesplit website, and the LRC Monday and Wednesday run groups are among the most popular in the city. LRC is just five years old; as it hits the second half of its first decade, Pat plans on using the store and site to continue building a culture of fitness and camaraderie centered around the sport we love.
